Shannon M. Duncan
Welcome!
I am an Assistant Professor of Marketing at the Alberta School of Business, University of Alberta.
My research primarily focuses on motivation and judgment and decision-making. In particular, my work examines how technology and choice architecture can be harnessed to encourage consumers to make choices that improve their long-term well-being. My work has been published in various outlets, including Journal of Marketing, Journal of Consumer Research, and Cognition.
At Alberta, I teach Consumer Behavior to undergraduate students and Sustainability and Responsible Marketing to undergraduate and MBA students.
I received my Ph.D. in Marketing from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. Before that, I received my M.S. in Neuroscience and Education from Columbia University and my B.A. magna cum laude in Psychology from Marist College. I also served as the Associate Director for the Center for Decision Sciences at Columbia University before beginning my doctoral studies.
